Traditional Fish Curry

 

Ingredients:

  • 500g fish (like cod, salmon, or any firm white fish), cut into pieces
  • 2 tbsp Fish Curry Masala
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp tamarind paste or lemon juice
  • 1 can coconut milk (optional, for a creamy version)
  • Fresh coriander leaves, for garnish
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Fish: Marinate fish pieces with a little salt and set aside.
  2. Cook Onions: In a pan, heat oil and sauté onions until golden brown.
  3. Add Tomatoes and Spices: Add ginger-garlic paste, followed by tomato puree, turmeric, and Fish Curry Masala. Cook until oil separates.
  4. Add Fish: Gently add the fish pieces and coat them with the masala.
  5. Simmer: Add water or coconut milk for gravy. Bring to a boil and then simmer until the fish is cooked through.
  6. Finish with Tamarind: Add tamarind paste or lemon juice and adjust salt.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve with rice or bread.

Fish Masala Fry


Ingredients:

  • 500g fish fillets
  • 2 tbsp Fish Curry Masala
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp semolina or rice flour (for coating)
  • Oil for shallow frying

Instructions:

  1. Marinate Fish: Mix Fish Curry Masala, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, and salt. Coat the fish fillets with this mixture and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare for Frying: Coat the marinated fish fillets lightly with semolina or rice flour.
  3. Fry the Fish: Heat oil in a pan. Shallow fry the fish fillets until they are crispy and golden brown on both sides.
  4. Serve: Serve hot as an appetizer or with a side of salad or rice.
